In 2012 the ten Migros Cooperatives generated sales of CHF 14.524 billion. CHF 204 million was invested in discounts, which is equivalent to an average price reduction of 1.4%.

In a challenging market environment, with prices on a deflationary trend and intense international competition, the Commerce Department managed to generate sales of 6'797.4 million and growth of 6.3% in 2012 with 13'483 employees.

In a difficult environment, M-Industry has continued to strengthen its market position in Switzerland and abroad, with real-term growth up by 3.4%. Although prices have fallen by 1.8%, sales have increased by 1.6% to CHF 5'420 million (previous year CHF 5'333 million). The principal growth driver was the initial consolidation of CCA Angehrn, following the taking over of a majority shareholding in the company on 1 July 2012.

Migros Bank remains on a growth course. In the 2012 financial year there was a substantial increase in both customer lending and customer deposits.

In the year under review, the Hotelplan Group reported a very healthy result in Switzerland and a massive loss in Italy. With passenger volumes down by 9% on the previous year, sales fell by 13.5%.

The Logistics & IT Department – Shared Services – is responsible for the national and international supply chain processes. In 2012 it was honoured with the prestigious «Swiss Logistics Award» for its innovative transport logistics.
