The company Chocolat Frey was founded by the brothers Robert and Max Frey in 1887. Today, this traditional company from Aargau is the leader on the Swiss chocolate market, with a market share of around 39%. The M-Industrie company also wants to exploit this strong position more abroad. In future, it aims to generate over 50% of its sales from exports.
The Migros companies Mibelle AG, Mifa AG and Mibelle Ltd, three production companies from the Migros M-Industrie business unit, now operate under the common brand name Mibelle Group. By combining their strengths into one corporate group, they are positioning themselves as the number three in the European private label market for personal and home care.

For the 50th anniversary of Gottlieb Duttweiler's death, the Oranger Garten with a pavilion opens in Rüschlikon. In this attractive architectural structure, which lies in close vicinity to the Park im Grüene, the public can experience important footage from the Migros company archive with state-of-the-art interactive technology.
Migros acquires a 30% share in digitec / Galaxus AG, strengthening its position as the number one in e-commerce. Digitec.ch – a leading online retailer for information technology, consumer electronics and telecommunications – and the online warehouse galaxus.ch benefit from Migros' expertise in stationary retailing as well as from better procurement terms.
The first Alnatura organic supermarket opens in Zurich – Alnatura and the Migros Cooperative Zurich launch a new concept for organic supermarkets in Switzerland. The two partners share some of the same corporate principles: sustainability, cultural initiatives and a desire to see the sensible reformation of the economy.
The first Socar petrol station with migrolino shop opens in Zurich. The operator of more than 170 former Esso petrol stations has signed a franchise contract with migrolino for all 55 large, directly operated petrol station shops. This enables migrolino to enhance the brand and the network of sites even further in ideal locations throughout Switzerland.
In Studen near Biel, LeShop.ch opens its first collection centre in Switzerland for online food purchases. The pilot project receives more than 200 orders on the very first day and the results after two months of business are well above expectations. More than 100 customers a day collect their orders from LeShop.ch Drive.
From 1.1.13 the Migros Cooperative Zurich takes over the retail operations of tegut Gutberlet-Stiftung & Co. KG, which operates some 290 branches in Germany with 5'000 employees. A boost to MCZ's core business and capitalising on attractive growth opportunities, the partnership is characterised by a mutual understanding of ecology, the environment, sustainability and society.
Inside Zurich's attractive Löwenbräukunst-Areal, the Migros Museum of Contemporary Art opens its renovated and enhanced premises with the first Swiss solo exhibition of the Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson. The museum now has two floors: one for the presentation of its collection, the other for temporary exhibitions.
Together with its software partner Cantaluppi & Hug AG, Migros wins the prestigious «Swiss Logistics Award 2012» for its project «Transportplanung mit Ameisenlogik» (Transport planning with ant-based logic). This clever software enables dynamic, environmentally and climate friendly route planning for lorries that are on the road for Migros each day.
