Healthy food on the shelves

Migros promotes an active lifestyle and a balanced diet. Last year, it reduced the sugar and salt content in many food products. The product range for people with special dietary requirements is being enhanced continuously.

Migros is committed to a balanced diet. It offers healthy food and provides comprehensive information about ingredients and how to eat a balanced diet. The company supports the «actionsanté» initiative of the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health and adapts its food recipes accordingly. Migros also promotes an active lifestyle with lots of exercise. It supports many sporting activities such as running and slowUp events. With its fitness parks and sports courses, it also offers a broad range of exercise opportunities.

Less sugar and salt

Last year, Migros again adapted a number of food recipes in the interest of a healthy diet. It set itself the objective of gradually reducing the sugar content in 52 yoghurts by 5% to 10% before the end of 2013 – and it's already half way there. In addition, the sugar content in various drinks such as M-Budget sweet drinks and Migros Ice Tea has been reduced by 3% each. The Migros restaurants also lowered the sugar content of syrups in drinks dispensers by 25%.

In the convenience area, Migros set binding limit values for all product groups to reduce the salt content in 130 products by the end of 2012. The Migros restaurants and the take-away area also expanded the Délifit health range and increased awareness of healthy eating among the gastronomy staff.

Range of products for special dietary needs expanded

Migros is continuously enhancing its product range for people with special dietary needs. Under the independently certified label aha!, it offers a broad range of products for people who suffer from allergies or intolerances. The product range was enhanced again last year, meaning that 70 products from the areas of food, cosmetics and household goods now carry the aha! quality label. Since spring 2012, these also include ten gluten-free products from Jowa (bread, cakes, pasta). By marking vegetarian and vegan products with the V label, Migros also offers a guideline for vegetarian diets. By the end of 2012, 120 products now carry the V label, which guarantees that all ingredients, additives (E numbers) and processing agents are not of animal origin.
