Social partnership has primarily to start with the employees and be actively practised by them. In 2010 Migros’s employees did so in every respect. Forty-seven personnel committees were reappointed, 439 women and men democratically chosen to represent their fellow workers, an employees’ federation established and the first collective work agreement concluded in the Swiss travel and tourism sector.

At Migros, social partnership is not an exclusive affair, but an attitude and a conviction that depends on the representativeness, expertise and professionalism of the hundreds of elected staff representatives on the boards of directors and personnel committees of the Migros enterprises, and the Migros Group’s national committee. The collective work agreements in place at Migros are therefore the collective work agreements of Migros’s employees.
