Two projects of the Migros Culture Percentage celebrated their anniversary in 2010: the club minu for obese adolescents has existed for 20 years, vitamin b has sponsored association and voluntary work for 10 years. And as varied as never before, 9'000 students helped others in 130 projects at x-hoch-herz in the 2009/10 term.

Achieve your desired weight with sport, fun and games

The club minu pilot project started its first treatment programme for obese children 20 years ago. Since then, more than 400 adolescents and their relatives have learned how to eat more healthily, that exercise and sport are fun and that stress and conflicts cannot be solved by opening the fridge.
It has been remarkably successful: the success rate is more than twice as high as that of similar programmes for adults.
Over the years some 20 independent treatment programmes for obese adolescents have been set up throughout Switzerland based on club minu's approach. The Swiss Technical Association for Adiposity in Children and Adolescents and a national committee monitor and certify the quality of the treatment programmes. Health insurances cover the participation fees of the certified programmes as part of basic insurance cover.

Together we are stronger

Voluntary work is crucial for the cohesion of our society: associations bring people together, have an integrative effect, and support and promote community life; they create trust and thereby form the foundation of our democracy. To optimally perform these tasks, which are important for our living together, associations need backing and support. Migros Culture Percentage has been a pioneer in this area for 10 years. In vitamin b, it has created a service that supports association boards and voluntary work.
vitamin b will continue to provide innovation and much expertise in the future to the dedicated men and women in some 100'000 associations. In particular, advice, education and information will become increasingly important for voluntary work.
Migros Culture Percentage's 2010 study, which examines the cost/benefit ratio in 10 selected German-speaking municipalities, shows that cooperation between municipalities and associations also makes sense from a business perspective.
