Family-friendly Working-time Models

Family-friendly working hours require framework conditions that support and promote the compatibility of career and family. Migros lobbies for Swiss legislation to take into account the family and social needs of employees.

As of 1 August 2010, an employment law regulation has been in force which, in addition to rotating shifts, also allows a working time system with night work or day work only, without permanent rotation between the two. This takes into account that, for family or social reasons, it is often not possible or reasonable for many employees – especially women – to work in a rotating shift system in which they also have to perform night work on a regular basis. Migros has lobbied hard for this regulation, which takes the needs of employees with children seriously and helps the compatibility of career and family.
