Education
"Education for all!" Migros founder Gottlieb Duttweiler formulated this principle decades ago. To this day, education has remained a matter close to Migros' heart and is an integral part of Migros Culture Percentage.
Migros Club Schools & Eurocentres
Migros Club School is Switzerland's leading educational institution. It offered 600 different courses and seminars in 2017. At the national fitness and relaxation day, more than 3'700 people were given the chance to try out the latest trends free of charge. With the Online Academy, the Club School has expanded its digital business; as Switzerland's biggest language school, it now offers its students the opportunity to learn the extraterrestrial language Klingon.
In 2017, the Eurocentres Foundation further developed its concept for teaching English in non-English-speaking countries and entered the important market of Saudi Arabia.
Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute & Chair
At the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute (GDI), there was a focus on internationalisation in 2017. Events such as the Blockchain Valley Conference, the Future of Power, and the Future of Democracy were attended by some high-calibre speakers. In Berlin, the GDI presented the German adaptation of "Technocracy in America" published jointly with the Robert Bosch Academy.
In 2017, the Gottlieb Duttweiler Chair of International Retail Management at the University of St. Gallen produced some important findings for academia and practice. With seven teaching staff and more than 25 guest speakers, the Chair supervised, inter alia, 70 ongoing or completed bachelor's and master's theses.
