Education
"Education for all!" Migros founder Gottlieb Duttweiler formulated this principle decades ago. To this day, education has remained a matter close to Migros' heart and is an integral part of Migros Culture Percentage.
Migros Club Schools & Eurocentres
Migros Club School is Switzerland's most popular educational institution. In 2018, it held 53'023 courses and seminars at 50 locations. With 1'095 registrations, the Online Academy recorded 15% more bookings than in 2017; the range of services was supplemented with digital Office courses. Insect cooking courses, a basic course for family care-givers and a cooking course for sufferers of rheumatism were also launched.
The Eurocentres Foundation was sold to the mvc Education & Career Group in 2018.
Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute & Chair
In 2018, the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute (GDÌ) published six studies, including "A New World of Energy" and "Wellness 2030", the latter of which was presented in New York. The studies, along with the eleven GDI conferences on topics such as self-optimisation and artificial intelligence, were met with great interest. The researchers reached a large audience in Switzerland and abroad with talks on, for example, digital transformation and voluntary work.
In 2018, the Gottlieb Duttweiler Chair of International Retail Management at the University of St.Gallen produced some important findings for academia and practice. With four teaching staff, a guest professor and 25 guest speakers, the Chair supervised, among other things, 82 ongoing or completed bachelor's and master's theses.
