Working Hours, Health and Absences
Good health, workplace quality, job satisfaction and labour productivity are inextricably interlinked. Healthy, motivated and efficient workers generate the maximum value added. It is clear from 2010 that more work and better health go hand in hand at Migros.
Health, workplace quality, job satisfaction and labour productivity must go hand in hand. For this to happen, it is vital to have comprehensive, systematic and sustainable healthcare management in place that is integral as a strategic factor to the organisation as a whole and to the management systems, and as such forms part of responsible corporate governance. That is clearly revealed by the corresponding key figures for 2010. The percentage of working hours worked relative to working hours paid has increased from 80% to 83%, and the wellness rating to 95.48%. This rating is therefore significantly above the internationally recognised reference value of 85%. Correspondingly, compared with Switzerland as a whole, the absenteeism rate at Migros is well below average and the weekly duration of absences for each job well below average.
