Under the name «Saviva», Migros Industry introduces a new food service alliance brand, combining its strengths with Saviva's successful Swiss companies in the areas of wholesale and production. The aim is to provide customers from the catering sector with top-quality products and services tailored to their individual requirements.
The «Brand Asset Valuator» (BAV) votes Migros the most successful Swiss brand, ahead of Toblerone and Google. According to the survey, the Cooperative is benefiting from the shift in social values towards more idealism. The transparent communication and the innovations in the online sector are valued in particular.
Migros wins the first «European Retailer of the Year» award by the industry magazine «Private Label International». The judges decision is based primarily on Migros's own industry and its positive influence on value for money, but also on the numerous programmes dedicated to sustainability in retail.

The supported initiative «Mode Suisse» gives Swiss designers the opportunity to establish themselves on the market. 15 August marks the 125th birthday of Migros founder Gottlieb Duttweiler (1888–1962). In the form of various events, commemorative publications and a special stamp by Swiss Post, tribute is paid to the visionary entrepreneur, who converted Migros AG into a cooperative in 1940.
Migros connects Switzerland's most powerful solar plant to the public grid. On the roofs of the Migros-Verteilbetrieb Neuendorf AG distribution centre, the system generates enough electricity to supply 1,300 households. Over a period of several months, more than 20,000 solar panels are installed on a surface the size of 123 tennis courts.
The latest collection promotion Minimania revolves around traditional Migros products in miniature format. Migros customers can collect and swap their favourite products and cult products for eight weeks. Soon after the launch, Minimania triggers an unprecedented collection frenzy among young and old alike.
After managing the Marketing Department of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives (FMC) for more than five years and serving on the FMC's Executive Board for the same amount of time, Oskar Sager announces that he is stepping down on health grounds at the end of the year. He will assume new duties within the Migros Group.
The Board of Directors of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives approves the takeover of Schild by Magazine zum Globus. The two successful companies thereby achieve a turnover of around CHF 1 billion and establish themselves as the number one on the middle to high-end Swiss fashion market.
Migros wins the «CSR Initiative of the Year» award at the World Retail Congress for its Generation M programme. The award recognises companies that continuously dedicate themselves to society and act responsibly towards people and the environment.
Migros is named «Retailer of the Year» in the Food category. The survey asked Swiss consumers how they rate the price, service and product ranges of different retailers. It is one of the most important surveys in Europe.
The Board of Directors of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives appoints Hansueli Siber as Head of the Marketing Department with effect from 1 January 2014 and elects him to the FMC's Executive Board. Siber, aged 47, has been in charge of the Fresh Division in the FMC's Marketing Department for seven years. He replaces Oskar Sager.
