Supplementary Benefits
Migros grants its employees attractive additional benefits, such as extended maternity leave, various discounts or participation in the company's success. It thereby emphasises its position as an attractive employer in Swiss retail.
Migros grants all mothers maternity leave of 16 to 18 weeks at full salary and thereby exceeds the legal requirements. Every father may also take four weeks of paternity leave during the first year of his child's life. Two of these weeks are paid for by Migros; he can claim unpaid leave for another two weeks.
The death of a family member is a difficult time. In this situation, the surviving family members should not also find themselves in financial difficulty. For this reason, Migros finances a special whole life insurance, which makes a capital payment of up to three annual wages to its employees' surviving family members. Unmarried partners and same-sex partners also benefit from this.
Migros involves its employees in the company's success. In the first four years of employment, they are paid CHF 1000 annually into their M-Participation Account and given favourable interest terms. These employee assets stand at more than CHF 200 million in 2011.
The Migros Group companies grant their employees numerous discounts and rebates on their varied products and services and thereby emphasise Migros' role as an attractive employer.
