As Switzerland's largest retailer, Migros is committed to protecting natural resources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It promotes renewable energies and raises awareness of environmental issues among its customers.

Energy & climate

Since 2016, Migros has been operating Switzerland's most powerful solar power plant, with an output of 7.8 megawatt peak (MWp). Its commitment to more nature on its company premises was recognised with an award from the environmental foundation Schweizerische Umweltstiftung. (More details...)

Transport & mobility

In Cooperative Retailing, Migros was again the number one for rail freight in 2016 in terms of sales. More shipments were switched from road to rail. At the same time, Migros reduced the emissions of its lorry fleet and promoted electromobility. (More details...)

Waste & recycling

In 2016, Migros made the packaging for various products more environmentally friendly. By making its jam jars thinner, it saved 126 t of glass per year. Migros also took measures to reduce food waste and use of disposable plastic bags. (More details...)
